We are having some problems with our NetInfo structure.  The current  
structure, shown below
consistes of two servers, SERVER1 and SERVER2, serving various sub  
domains and providing
various mount points to the cluster.   Our structure was created to  
allow for exclusion of information
from specific domains.

 

Both servers contain user partitions and all machines in the cluster  
need to be able to mount
these partitions.  Here lies the problem:

      Why do we have to have all the machines in Group3 listed in the  
/machines directory on SERVER2/local?  If we remove the information  
for the machines of Group3 from the SERVER2/local /machines  
directory, the machines in Group3 are no longer able to automount  
(via /Net) any partitions from SERVER2.  We find this strange because  
the only entries in our SERVER1/local /machines are broadcasthost and  
localhost.  There doesn't seem to be a problem with machines in  
Group1 and Group2, which are served by SERVER2, mounting partitions  
from SERVER1.  Is this because SERVER1 is also our NetInfo Master for  
the entire database and by default, it knows of every machine in the  
cluster??
