In article <KYW6ENG@minnie.zdv.uni-mainz.de> pom@anke.imsd.uni-mainz.DE (Prof. Dr. Klaus Pommerening) writes: >When I boot my NeXT from the console I get the message >"remote debugging enabled". What does this mean? >Is it a security hole? Likely it means the when the kernel panics, it will accept remote debugging commands from a kgdb program running on another NeXT on that ethernet segment. From there, you can do all of the normal sort of kernel debugging to see why the machine paniced and died. This is likely more helpful for NeXT rather than the poor user with a broken machine as he likely can't fix the problem himself. louie
