Thanks for all the help, it appears that I had an old version of SLIP, BUT, unfortunately, it still hangs on bootup after "updating cron" ... If I just have the line: sh /usr/dialupip/config/rc.slip >/dev/console 2>&1 in the /etc/rc.local file, it will try to call the network at bootup (after "updating cron") but if I have the line: /usr/dialupip/bin/duioctl slip0 DISABLECALL in the file aswell, it will not call the network after "updating cron" but it WILL just sit there indefinately. has anyone had this problem before, or know what is going wrong?? thanks, and again, I'll post a summary as soon as I fix it. -nate sammons ns111310@longs.lance.colostate.edu PLEASE e-mail me... BTW>> It will work (mostly) if I just run the sh /usr/dialupip/config/rc.slip >/dev/console 2>&1 as root **AFTER** bootup....
