As previously announced in one of the NeXT Usenet newsgroups, we
are accepting orders for the Addison-Wesley NeXT documentation set
at a Usenet group purchase discount price. We already have enough
orders in hand to be absolutely sure that the deal is going through,
and we will be ordering the first batch from Addison-Wesley on
Friday. Follow-up orders are allowed, so don't be concerned if
you don't read this right away; you'll just get the books later.

There are eight manuals. Five are available now. The other three
should become available about the end of November. Because most
people are eager to get the documents, we will ship the sets in two
parts. The extra shipping expense (which we are paying, not you,
for U.S. orders) keeps us from providing more than a 15% discount.

All of the books are being issued by Addison-Wesley at prices
different from those earlier posted to the net, and most,
unfortunately, are higher. The prices shown below are the
publisher's correct prices, as of yesterday; it is on these that
the discount will be based. Because of the overall increase in
prices, our initial estimate of $204 for the set is not valid. The
total at list price is $263.60 (with shipping extra) and the total
group purchase price is $224.06, with shipping included free to U.S.
destinations.

Purchasers in the State of Washington must add $18.37 sales tax,
for a total of $242.43.

A few people have expressed an interest in purchasing just a few of
the titles rather than the whole set. We are offering a 10% discount
on individual titles, with the same terms.

Anyone whose organization needs at least three complete sets, or needs
to place a purchase order rather than pay in advance or with a credit
card, is invited to discuss the situation. We'll try to help.

There should be little if any extra delay by ordering as part of
our group; the publisher will drop-ship directly to you.

If you're outside the U.S., we can ship at your expense, and you
will be responsible for any taxes at your end. We have no
expertise at this and can neither recommend it nor discourage you.
We'll bill your credit card for actual shipping charges,
book/airmail, DHL, etc., as you prefer.

You may order by e-mail (which we recommend if you are reasonably
well-connected), phone, fax, or letter. (Obviously, only letter
will work if you're paying by check.)

We'll need
your name,
shipping address (not a P.O. box), also
telephone number and
e-mail address
(in case we need to discuss something with you). If you're paying
the convenient way, by Visa or MasterCard, please include the
expiration date as well as the card number, and, if the name and
address for the card differ from your own name or shipping address,
those, also.

Thanks for participating, if you choose to.
