I have this major problem with the NeXTstation in our lab. I really messed up the files needed for booting, such as /sdmach and /usr/etc/mach_init ... now the machine won't even boot to single-user mode. I could fix the boot files if I can become root somehow ( I have copies of the correct files in / ). so what to do now? can I boot from a floppy, and how do I create a boot floppy? I tried booting from our server on the net, but all I get is lots of error ; I don't know what I have to do to boot off our server somehow. We dont have optical disk drive. I don't mind even if I have to rebuild the hard disk, nothing crucial will be lost; but how do I do that if I can't boot? We are running NeXTStep 2.0 at the moment. many thanks for any suggestions, Istvan hernadi@cpsc.ucalgary.ca
