Yes I'd also noticed that all new accounts that I've created have had the 755
permissions and always wondered why that was although noone has ever been able
to give me an answer.  I usually get "Really? Oh I better change mine!" or
"Yes that's right and it's up to the user to change it!" and also the odd "well
that is specific to NeXT!".
So I agree it's a good question and long to know why but I don't think that it's
anything that we've done wrong.  If you do find out, or anyone else knows why,
I'm sure many would like to know.  ;-)  I've been wondering over a year and
never found out why...
