I had this weird bug happen to me a few days ago under NeXTStep 3.0. Does anyone know if (1) It's a known feature, (2) It's unique to me, (3) It's unique to NextStep 3.0, or (4) It's common and known from NeXTStep 2.x?? I typed 'exit' for the login-name (& blank (empty) password). The workspace then began a shutdown & restart sequence. While it was doing this, I tried to make the screen as dark as possible. When it finished restarting, I could not make the screen any brighter. Repeating this process with making the screen brighter during the shutdown/restart of workspace reversed this, with my screen being at full brightness and unable to "darken". Going into preferences and dragging the screen-brightness slider changed the screen temporarily, but as I watched, it would move the slider back to where it originally was. Rebooting, as expected, produced a full cure. So, is this a old one for any of you??? -David Apfelbaum. da0g+@andrew.cmu.edu
