The two previous posts reminded me of the following strange behavior, which for lack of a better word, I'll call "caching of NFS-fetched files": When I use TeXview (the pre 3.0 release posted to labrea.stanford.edu) to view a dvi-file from my NFS-mounted workstation at the office on my NeXT at home, the dvi-file persists somewhere (on the NEXT). That is if I edit the TeX file on the remote machine, re-TeX it, and try either to reopen the dvi-file in TeXview or, even quit TeXview and restart from scratch, I still see the old file (whereas if I run xdvi remotely under co-Xist, the fresh file appears). What's worse, even dvips (This is dvips 5.490 Copyright 1986, 1992 Radical Eye Software) will print the old version of the dvi-file, not the updated one. Is anyone aware where NeXT "caches" such NFS-originating files? Tom Rokicki assured me that it is not TeXview which does the caching. And of course, this does not happen if the file is copied to a local directory and reprocessed on the NeXT. -- Hardy ----- Meinhard E.
