After a disappointing experience upgrading to 3.0 (another sad story), 
I just ran into the following problem with the Mail application:

I normally have Mail autolaunched at log-in, but now it bombs 
immediately.  The problem seems to be associated with trying to open 
my Active.mbox. Here are some observations:

1-  I can launch Mail by double clicking on other mailboxes.  But if 
I try to open Active.mbox thru the Mailboxes button, it kills Mail.

2- If I launch mail from a shell, here's what happens:
next1> /NextApps/Mail.app/Mail 
Bus error

3-  other users (root) on the same machine don't have this problem 
with their own mailbox.

4- I can open the troublesome Active.mbox using the unix mail utility, ie:
next1> mail -f /Users/seidl/Mailboxes/Active.mbox/mbox
Mail version 5.3 2/18/88.  Type ? for help.

5- I made a CopyOfActive.mbox, but when I double-click on it, it bombs.

6- If I then make a brand new Active.mbox, it works - but I still cannot 
access the mail in CopyOfActive.mbox with Mail.app.


Did the Active.mbox get corrupted somehow? Is the problem is not 
directly related to the switch to 3.0??

Other suggestions?
