I read the documentation, and did this in order to print from one NeXT to another NeXT that has a printer, over ethernet but not using netinfo: 1. Added the host name of the computer without the printer to /etc/hosts.lpd. 2. Added a /etc/printcap to the NeXT without the printer indicating the one with a printer, and also niload'ed that into that machine. The printer can be selected and printed to on the machine with no printer. However, the stuff just sits in the spool directory, and the status file there says it's waiting for the queue on the machine with the printer to be activated. I've rebooted both machines after the changes. Printing works fine on the machine with the printer. A possibly related problem is that the PrintManager doesn't show the status or all the junk in the spool directory when I press Queue ... It seems close, but I seem to be missing something. Any clues? Mark Adler madler@cco.caltech.edu
