Well, I just upgraded to NeXTSTEP 3.0 and am enjoying RenderMan
in particular immensely. However, for some reason, when I try
to do photoreal renderering from the 3DKit (ie, using an N3DRenderPanel),
it cannot find any renderers. /usr/prman/prman seems to work fine.
The release notes admit the possibility of this sort of problem
(near the end of the list of known bugs in N3DKit.rtf), by saying:
> If you change the name of your host by editing /etc/hostconfig
> by hand, the rendering machinery won't be able to find it. Local
> rendering will not work. If you change the name of your host using
> HostManager.app, then you have to further edit the netinfo database
> in the . domain so your host has localhost as an alias.
However, as far as I can tell, my host does have localhost as an alias,
("nidump hosts ." ==> "192.42.172.253 skye localhost", where "skye"
is the name of my machine.) and other than that, the comment does not
propose a solution.
Any suggestions out there? Things to try, etc?
