There are a set of tools to access a DOS floppy on a UNIX machine. They
will give you a series of commands, named after the DOS equivalent, with
an added m in front (mdir, mcopy, mcd,...). They compile on any UNIX machine
and I don't remember having had to change anything to make them work, at
least with 1.44MB disks.

You can find them on any comp.sources.unix archive, like at usc.edu,
or gatekeeper.dec.com. the mtools are in the volume 11, the mtools2
(a newer version, I presume) in the volume 25.

Hope it helps --- And to anybody who don't have them yet, get them.

Lga.
