For some reason, for me to run executables from a C-shell, I have to add an asterisk after the executable's name. (This is not a problem for Bourne Shells). For example: localhost> runthis runthis: Command not found. localhost> runthis* Now the program runs. localhost> ls -l runthis -rwxr-xr-x 1 me 57520 Apr 12 12:26 runthis* localhost> cp runthis* runthis cp: runthis and runthis are identical (not copied). localhost> cp runthis runthis* cp: runthis and runthis are identical (not copied). localhost> This is a real drag if I also have a file "runthis.c", because then I get: localhost> runthis runthis: Command not found. localhost> runthis* runthis*: Ambiguous. localhost> What is going on here, and how do I fix it so that I don't have to type the durn * every time I execute a program? -Lee Altenberg altenber@hercules.acpub.duke.edu
