This is a summary of the responses I received as a result of the following post. Thanks to all who replied. :-) In article <1992Apr15.221558.19453@cognet.ucla.edu> chris@polaris.cognet.ucla.edu (Christopher McRae) writes: >Hi, > > Our newsgroup count recently passwd the 1500 mark and we >ended up having to recompile rn. Rather, it is due to number of dots in a newsgroup name. Someone recently created the following two bogus newsgroups: alt.music.pop.will.eat.itself.the.poppies.are.on.patrol alt.music.pop.will.eat.itself.X.Y.and.Z.electrix.sunshine.mix NewsGrazer crashes with a "Bus Error" message when it sees groups, such as these, with 10 (or more) dots in the name. The solution is to remove these bogus groups (ask your news admin). Pascal Chesnais (lacsap@plethora.media.mit.edu) says that NeXT has a version of NewsGrazer which fixes this, but is not releasing it yet.
