On our group of Next's we seem to have a problem with the Netinfo Database. We have a bogus entry in groups which has a directory of id of 0. This is source of endless amusement, since it's a recursive entry. The suggested fix in the manuals (N+SA pg 37) doesn't work for this entry. UserMgr would croak, etc.. We probably made all sorts of neophyte mistakes we set these up originally. I've isolated the bogus entry in "groups" renamed it to something else and created a new "groups", copied things over and this seems to keep things humming. However I keep getting messages ...netinfod[64] cannot lookup child on the console. The Root Domain Directory:0 also seems to have a rather interesting directory instance 43643964. Is this related to these funny entries? Should I dump the entire netinfo database and reload from scratch? [ argh :-( ] Suggestions, or pointers to appropriate archives appreciated. Email responses preferred, I'll summarize if there is interest. -- Jerry S. Weiss "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the antimatter!" j-weiss@nwu.edu Dept. Medicine, Northwestern Univ.
