I've upgraded a machine to 3.0, then decided that I wanted to make it a netinfo server (it was previously standalone, but connected to the net). I disconnected the network, rebooted, then ran SimpleNetworkStarter. Clicked on the "become a netinfo server" (or whatever it says), then clicked continue. Things seem OK until after the point where it prompts for the password for adding new machines. After that the program instantly dies (no panels requesting that the machine be reconnected to the network, as the online manual suggests). Are these panels supposed to appear, or is the documentation already out of date? After this, I haven't been able to get the machine past the "Unable to find parent netinfo server..." bottleneck, despite rebooting 15 or 20 times. There is also no sign of the root domain in /etc/netinfo having been created. I was able to make the machine back into a standalone using SimpleNetworkStarter... Anyone have any ideas what's going on? Gary Ritchie
