This is a fairly commonly asked question - is it in the FAQs?
In any case I believe the answer is no, you can't share a NeXT printer
unless you "turn on" NetInfo. I don't know why it can't behave like a
normal BSD/lpd/printcap printer when NetInfo is not being used.

A lot of people are scared about turning on NetInfo - I know I was at
first. NetInfo will happily run without interfering with you or even NIS.
Go ahead and use it!

All NeXT applications can print to a PostScript file - that is currently
the only printer type that is supported by the NeXT. Otherwise you'd have
to save it to a different format and print it via some other utility (say,
lpr).

I don't know what happens in 3.0 with the support for non-PostScript
printers like the Epsons, etc. Can you print to a file with those? Any
3.0 users?
