Thanks to the many people who responded to my post yesterday about how to undo a change made with NetMgr that prevented the machine from booting normally. The problem: I changed NetMgr...Local...Broadcast Address to the IP address of my own machine. When I rebooted, the machine hung when it got to the network initialization stage. Since I couldn't boot it, I wasn't sure how to undo the change I'd made. The solution: Boot into single-user mode and enter 'bsd -s' at the 'NeXT>' prompt. Edit your /etc/hostconfig file. (In my case, I changed IPBROADCAST back to '-AUTOMATIC-'). Logout. Reboot normally. This is all probably quite obvious to anyone who knows what they're doing (but maybe not...!). Thanks for the help.
