Here's a (so-far-as-I-know) undocumented feature that made its way to me via Eric Larson at NeXT. To make the login window bounce around the screen when idle, do the following as root: dwrite loginwindow MoveWhenIdle YES this does not interfere with screen dimming. it is only available in 3.0.
