When my disk suddenly started showing that almost no space was left, I checked /private/vm and found the following: --- total 72120 -rw------t 1 root 29188096 Nov 3 07:00 swapfile -rw------t 1 root 44638208 Nov 3 07:00 swapfile.front --- Ok, what is the difference between swapfile and swapfile.front and why do I have both of them? And why do I now need 70Mb of swap space? I cant find mention of swapfile.front in /etc/swaptab, or in the librarian. I didnt make swapfile.front (I dont think). -- jefu <=> Jeff Putnam - New Mexico Tech <=> jefu@nmt.edu "Overturn the dominant paradigm"

Well, running a small problem in Mathematica (cellular automaton thing for a small number of cells), my swapfile(s) just ate up the last few megabytes of disk (about 15) and I had to halt the machine and reboot. Why on earth would MMA need enough swap space to get to 85Mb on a CA program? Doesnt any of the swap space get reused? -- jefu <=> Jeff Putnam - New Mexico Tech <=> jefu@nmt.edu "Overturn the dominant paradigm"
