printing to remote NeXT laser

I am having trouble printing to a NeXT laser hung off another machine. Here are
the specifics:

1. my machine (dendron) is running 2.1 and "Non-Netinfo Network"
2. my printcap has the following entry which has been niloaded

Daves_NeXT: \
		:lp=:rm=trees:rp=Local_Printer:sd=/usr/spool/NeXT/dsnp: \
:ty=NeXT 400 dpi Level II Printer:

3. the other machine (trees) is in the same domain running 3.0 and "Non-Netinfo
Network"
4. the other machine has a hosts.equiv with a dendron entry

When I print to "Daves_NeXT" it gets spooled but never prints. The status file
in /usr/spool/NeXT/dsnp has a line "Waiting for queue to be enabled on trees".
Nothing shows up in the Queue in my PrintManager for "Daves_NeXT" when I print.

The strange thing is that when something is printed "locally" from trees to
trees' Local_Printer, it shows up in the "Daves_NeXT" Queue in my PrintManager.
So I have to assume trees is willing to let dendron send things to its printer.

What have I left out? I have been doing the same thing for a long time under
2.x to a remote Laserwriter through CAP. Why not a NeXT printer?
