What exactly is the _writers property for under the printer/fax entry in
Netinfo??
I was wondering if I could use this property to only allow specific users to
print to this printer. Or is this just to allow modifications to the
printers/fax modems themselves. If this is the case, does anyone know of a
way to only allow specific users to use a printer? Is there anyway to limit
who can _send_ faxes since using the printmanager it is easy to limit who can
receive them but it seems (by looking at the logs) that anyone can send?
I cannot simply limit which machines see the printer because this printer will
be located in a lab setting and thus, it is currently accessable to anyone...

Ok. that was my original query. I have done some investigating in printcap
and I found this really useful capacility that was listed in the man page:
rm str NULL restricted group. Only members of group
allowed access
I thought hey, this is PERFECT... so what's the catch??
Well, it works fine if you try to print via the command line:
oak> lpr -PN396_D_EE_Lab testfile.txt
lpr: Not a member of the restricted group
So it works fine using lpr, what's the problem? The problem is that printing
via the printpanel of any NeXTSTEP application seems to ignore this restricted
group option (rg) in a printcap entry... ARRRRGGGGHH!!!!
Any other ideas? Or is there anyway to kick npd in the head and tell it to
obey what is listed in the printcap entry??
