I just wanted to thank everyone for referring me to trn, after I requested a test based newsreader. This is just what we were looking for. And best of all this is the test post to see if it all works... Erik (btw, the reader can be found at nova.cc.purdue.edu, /pub/next/2.0/binaries, trn.tar.)

I picked this up and tried it out quickly, only to have it choke on the number of newsgroups at RPI. No big deal. I just thought "Oh well...", and brought up the Installer to delete the package. The package had installed some files into /usr/local/bin, /usr/local/lib, and /usr/local/man. When I clicked on the "delete" button, it deleted those *directories*, instead of the files it had installed inside of them!! In my case those directories (the /usr/local/* ones) are just links off to other directories, so all that really happened was that the links were removed. I recreated the links, and removed the files by hand. So, the question is, was this a fault of this specific package, or is it that those links confused the Installer.app itself, such that the installer figured the link was a file (instead of a directory) so it just decided to delete the link? -- Garance Alistair Drosehn = gad@eclipse.its.rpi.edu ITS Systems Programmer (handles NeXT-type mail) Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Troy NY USA
