Hi, If you do a "!ls" shell escape command on a Next machine, it goes into a loop and the entire machine (all windows) become very slow until the job is killed. Does anyone have the fix for this bug. Is there a GNU/public-domain version of less/more that I can easily install on a NeXT. Thanks, Erach As you know: 1. You cannot set the EDITOR environment variable and hope that will influence the choice of editor in more. So you use less which has this capability. -- Phone : (Home) (612) 341-4436 Work : (612) 626-7502 InterNet : irani@cs.umn.edu UUCP: uunet!umn-cs!irani Post: Erach A.Irani; 1630 S. 6th Street, #D409; Minneapolis, MN 55454

You can easily compile and install less1.77 from the gnu archives. It works fine on the NeXT. -- Hardy ----- Meinhard E. Mayer, Department of Physics, UC Irvine e-mail: hardy@golem.ps.uci.edu (preferred) or MMAYER@UCI.BITNET !!!! NO NEXTMAIL TO THESE ADDRESSES, PLEASE !!!!!
