Mailbox persmissions

I've seen a number of articles recently talking about the fact NeXT apparently
has set the wrong file permissons on the template Mailboxes directories. Would
someone please post what they think the permissions should be? For instance,
it seems reasonable that read permission by others should not be set but does
one need write or execute permisson by others so they can send you mail?
Thanks!

You need both read and write permission for yourself; execute permission
probably also (for the directory). No one else needs any permissions
whatsoever. Note that Mail.app wants write permission before allowing you
to read any mail from a Mailbox (to update the table.of.contents 'read'
flag). This is in addition to pulling incoming mail from /usr/spool/mail
into the Active.mailbox.
