Hello: I have been doing some investigation of a problem I am experiencing after upgrading my NeXTstation Turbo to 3.0 off of a Toshiba plug-n-play CD-ROM player [excellent CD-ROM player, btw]. I cannot use three applications: (1) NetWaremanager.app; (2) Hostmanager.app; (3) SimpleNetwork.app (or whatever it is called :-)). They start to fire up, but then die. The NetWare app comes up and tells me I need to reboot to get NetWare running. The command line version utils do not work either, I get a message complaining about NWopen not working, or thereabouts. In any case, rebooting does NOTHING to resolve the problem. I cannot get any listing of any file servers, even though there are many of them on campus [I supervise one, btw], and the disk listing never shows any attachments. No attachments are possible. I need a plan of attack here, so I can resolve this frustrating problem and allow the upgrade process of our other NeXTs on campus. I am confused. I wish I knew of a way to initialize my hard disk drive and install 3.0 off of the CD-ROM starting from scratch, with NOTHING from 2.2 remaining. Would this help? Can it be done? How? Are there better ideas? Please, if you have any ideas, I welcome them. If I get a good number of comments, I would summarize and post. I think this is evolving into a needed FAQ, since upgrading to 3.0 is fairly close to becoming automatic. BTW, I performed a no-edit upgrade. I wonder if that is the best idea. My disk LOOKS kind of full. Many things have changed, and it may be some time before everything is ironed out. Ahhh ... to use NetWare on NeXTstep! It must be doable.
