HELP ejecting floppies

What is wrong with the 3.0 Workspace Manager??? When I put a floppy (or CD) in
the drive, the icon does not show up on the shelf (I do have the preference
set correctly). The eject button does not highlight either. If I log in as
root, everything works perfectly.

This is REALLY annoying!!!!! Is this a bug or have I done something??

Thanks in advance.
Frank

p.s. If I rerun the 3.0Upgrade.app everything works fine for a short period of
time.

I have the same problem. No one else did, UNTIL other people changed
their Disk Options in Workspace->Preferences. (Changing the prefs back
to the default does no good.) I also noticed that, when I inserted the
floppy, Workspace used the "fixed disk" options, not the "removable disk"
ones. (Maybe that's why the icon didn't show up.)

Maybe setting the "Disk Options" triggers this bug, and somehow the
Workspace thinks the floppy is a "fixed" disk. Perhaps device permissions
also have something to do with it -- my floppy devices are set like this:

brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 0 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd0a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 8 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd1a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 16 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd2a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 24 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd3a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 32 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd4a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 40 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd5a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 48 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd6a
brw-rw---- 1 root operator 1, 56 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fd7a
crw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 41, 64 Jul 30 16:54 /dev/fdc0

I don't know enough about NeXT sysadmin to know if this is correct.

Forgive the logorrhea, but I'm really annoyed too. I was going to buy 3.0
for my home machine, but not if I can't use floppies.
