DISK EMERGENCY! (Still in hot water)

Thanks for all the quick responses on this, but I'm still having trouble.
To clarify, I have a color slab, no optical. I know I can boot from a
floppy, my real question is what's wrong with the drive. What IS a
reselect timeout? As for termination I suspect that may be the problem,
neither the internal 200 meg (SCSI ID 1) nor the external 660 (SCSI ID 0)
is terminated as far as I can tell. Is this bad? Note that the
disk sometimes works fine and sometimes dies horribly with these odd
reselect timeout errors. Could lack of termination cause that kind of
erratic failure or would it be reproducible? For now the disk fails
every time and yes I have backups of /users but I'd like to know if
the problem will go away when I reformat and rebuild the disk or if I
have to add some kind of 'termination' (whatever that would involve).
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks again in advance (and thanks to those who responded already).

Steve
