so how do you format a floppy for the MAC?

It seems that BuildDOS is gone from NS3.0. So how does one explicitly
build a DOS or MAC floppy?

Insert an uninitialized floppy into the drive. A panel will come up asking you either to initialize or eject (or cancel). If you click initialize, then the options (DOS, NeXT and Macintosh) can be selected.

Well, in the workspace manager you activate the Disk menu (I think) and
pick Initialize or Format disk. Sorry, but I don't remember off the top of
my head but it is in the menu.

After the format Panel appears, look for the selection that says NeXT. When
you click on this you will get the option selections for Mac and Dos format
disks. That is it.

Click 'Initialize' from the Workspace 'Disk' menu. The panel that appears
has a pop-up list from which you choose NeXT, DOS, or Macintosh format.
