Emacs-2.3.0 Questions

I would like to use Emacs with emacs 18.59.
I have two problems.
	emacs under Emacs doesn't recognize my hostname. (I believe there
		was a work-around posted for this problem ages ago.)
	Emacs doesn't seem to be registering as available for
		use in editing non-executables (i.e. in Tools->Inspector
		Workspace menu option.)
I'd appreciate any advice.

The first problem is due to the hostname not being set correctly. The
easiest way to fix this is to use HostManager.

The second is also easy to fix. If you want it to be the default
application (replacing Edit) just read the online help for Emacs. You can
also make it be specific for some filenames by editing the file
Emacs.iconheader to include the filename extensions as follows:

F	Emacs.app	Emacs	app
F	Emacs	Emacs	app
S	el	Emacs	elisp
S	tex	Emacs	tex

to include .tex and .el files for instance.
