I pass news to a NeXT system via a 9600 baud v.32 dialup modem connection. Typically, I expect to get ~850 bytes/sec throughput using uucico. However, on systems which insist on using the old uucico default of 3 for a window size, this throughput drops to about 700 bytes/sec. This is what I see when talking to the NeXT. I know very little about this machine and operating system. However, I would like to minimize the modem connect time. Various patches have been released for different versions of uucico to increase the window size to 7, and thereby increase the 9600 baud thruput. Newer uucicos even allow specifying the window size in the Systems file. I am not familiar with the NeXT, and none of the mechanisms I have suggested appear to work with its uucico. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how this can be done. Please respond directly to me, as I neither own a NeXT, nor read this newsgroup on any kind of a regular basis. Thanks in advance. -- Rob Stampfli rob@colnet.cmhnet.org The neat thing about standards: 614-864-9377 HAM RADIO: kd8wk@n8jyv.oh There are so many to choose from.
