Mounting external disk

We just added a 1.2GB external disk and it mounts just fine on its
host machine (named bullnext). However, we have that host machine
setup as our server (serving user home directories) but I can't see
the external disk in the /Net directory tree. I added a line to the
/etc/fstab file to mount the disk as follows:
/dev/sd1a /External 4.3 rw,noquota,noauto 0 2
The /External disk (directory) shows up fine off the root directory
of the machine that hosts the drive. However, no other machines on
our netinfo network see the directory /Net/bullnext/External. We
have configured bullnext:/ for NFS export in NFSManager. Does anyone
have any hints why the external disk isn't visible to other machines
on our netinfo network?
Also, a related question. The documentation says that if we want to
place users home directories on the external disk to specify a mount
point of /Users in the /etc/fstab entry. What I would like to do is
mount the external disk as /External then use NFS to mount
/External/Users over the /Users directory on our server, and to do
the same with /LocalApps and /LocalLibrary. I tried setting up the
/Users mount in NFSManager but it wouldn't mount; the boot process
just sat there saying 'Retrying' - I had to Ctrl-C to break out of
it.
I'd like to not have to devote the entire disk to just my /Users
directory. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll summarize the solution(s).
When adding a second external drive the NeXT documentation says to
add the following line to /etc/fstab:
/dev/sd1a /External 4.3 rw,noquota,noauto 0 2
where /External is the desired mount point on your host (let's call
it <hostserver>). The consensus is that the ,noauto option is
neither needed nor desired. I removed it and things appear to work
well.
However, there is another piece to the puzzle in order to permit
other machines on the Netinfo network to be able to see and mount the
new External drive. Even if the mount on the host machine
<hostserver> causes the new drive to appear off the root directory,
say as /External, that drive/directory won't show up under
/Net/hostserver/External on the other machines on the Netinfo
network.
The trick is that, since the new disk is another physical device, it
has to exported separately from <hostserver>. I ran NFSManager and
added a separate export entry for /External on <hostserver>. Then in
my Netinfo domain I added an entry to mount hostserver:/External as
/External on the other machines. Bingo, it works.
