I asked for Postscript filters for the -d and -f options of `lpr'.
amr@mpl.ucsd.edu (Tony Richardson) and N Tomczak-Jaegermann  
<ntomczak@vega.math.ualberta.ca> suggested using dvips as filter
for `lpr -d'. It works! The corresponding lines in
`/usr/libNextPrinter/comm' (NextStep 2.1) look as follows:

	psdf) dvips -f -D400 -r >/tmp/.dvips.out ; $comm -f /tmp/.dvips.out ;  
rm /tmp/.dvips.out ;;
	psvf|pscf|psrf) psbad $prog $pname $user $host >/tmp/.psbad.out ; 
		$comm -f /tmp/.psbad.out ;
		rm /tmp/.psbad.out ;;

Now I miss only the filter for -f.
