I followed the instructions in the documentation which allow you to disable the power-off key when the login panel is displayed, using the following line in /etc/ttys: console "/usr/lib/NextStep/loginwindow -PowerOffDisabled true" NeXT on secure window=/usr/lib/NextStep/WindowServer onoption="/usr/etc/getty std.9600" What I have found, though, is that this works following system boot up, but after any user has logged in and back out, anyone can shut the machine down via the power key from the console, so it seems as though this option is being overridden or reset after logging in. Has anyone solved this problem? Thanks. -- Douglas Scott (805)893-8352 Center for Computer Music Research and Composition University of California, Santa Barbara Internet: (NeXTMail ok) <doug@foxtrot.ccmrc.ucsb.edu>

to answer Douglas Scott: have you tried the default database instead of the ttys file ? It works for me, at least. --- / ================================================= \ \ Yann Lechelle (Paris, FRANCE) / / yann@dagobah.fdn.org Email/NeXTmail \ \ +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ / / "grep me no patterns and I'll tell you no lines." \ \ ================================================= / -- / ================================================= \ \ Yann Lechelle (Paris, FRANCE) / / yann@dagobah.fdn.org Email/NeXTmail \ \ +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ /
