gdb connection to Edit (view) doesn't work ????

On one of our NeXTStations running NS3.0 the following
works fine:
>gdb myProgram
>view
and Edit gets fired up with a menu item GDB.

However, on all out other identical NeXT's it does not work
and I can't find any difference. Edit gets fired up but no
menu item is added and gdb hangs (no prompt is returned).

Both Terminal and Edit are in an NFS mounted directory
(they are NOT local to the one machine that works).
Each machine has it's own version of /bin/gdb but they
are the same version number on all machines.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks, Dave.

Set the preferences for Edit telling it to launch in "developer mode".
