I already have a NEC CDR-73 CD-ROM reader for a Macintosh, and I would like to get it working on my NeXT. Does anyone know if this is possible. I would imagine that I just need the correct device driver, or something. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate any help. Chris Mumford

My understanding is that you need a ROM from NEC that fixes a bug of theirs that reports the block size as zero. The Mac doesn't care, but the NeXT does. Last I heard, NEC didn't think it was worthwhile to correct their mistake. M Carling Director, Bay Area NeXT Group -- Bill Clinton lied to his wife. How can his country trust him? If you've been following comp.unix.aux (the "real" operating system for the Mac), you've read that NEC drives don't work there, either. > Last I heard, NEC didn't think it was worthwhile to correct >their mistake. Sounds to me like it's not worthwhile to purchase NEC CD-ROM drives. -=EPS=- -- "It just works ... out of the box." "It's a Sony!"
