I'm trying to use dump with an Archive Python DAT drive. The dump seems to work fine (using "dump 0fsu /dev/rst0 1200000 /dev/sd0a" for example). However, if I do "restore fi /dev/rst0" to check on the dump, it frequently does not work, reporting "Tape/disk read error: I/O error". I clean the drive regulary using a cleaning cartridge, and I've never had any problems with tar. Has anyone else seen this behavior with dump and this DAT drive? Thanks -- Henk Hendrik A. Same happened to me. THe solution:
restore ibf 10 /dev/rst0
Your dump is ok, I'm pretty sure. BTW I had problems using tar because of some
pathnames exceeding the maximum allowed.
