printing from Sun -> NeXT
#367

I'm trying to print from a Sun ELC to a remotely connected NeXTlaser,
but am having difficulty doing so. The status says that the printer
is ready and printing, but it isn't, and the files never end up on
the queue. I'm thinking that it may have something to do with my
/etc/printcap entries. Can someone mail me a copy of their printcaps
if they are using a similar configuration?!?

Thanks.

try nidump printcap /

oceania:john 12: nidump printcap /
Network_Printer: \
	:sd=/usr/spool/NeXT/Network_Printer:rm=black:rp=Local_Printer:lp=:
\
	:ty=NeXT 400 dpi Level II Printer:note=NeXT 3.0 Laser by Mindy: \
	:lo=lock:

I simply copied the output and stuck it into the /etc/printcap
file on our Sun.

Try looking at lpq and lpr to test the results.

I think I recall having to create the spool directory as well on the
Sun. On your Sun, do a 'mkdirs /usr/spool/NeXT/Printer_Name'
