I'm new to this group, so I hope this hasn't been discussed ad nauseum already. We're bridging our Netware LAN and our TCP/IP LAN next week. Among other denizens, our TCP/IP LAN houses several NeXTs, most running NS 3.0. I need something to provide e-mail and NFS connectivity between Netware and the UNIX boxes. I've looked at Pegasus/Charon as an e-mail solution, but I don't have any old, tired PCs laying around to use as a Charon gateway. If I can just mount Netware volumes on a UNIX platform, I know how to do the equivalent (I think). I've been eying NS 3.0's NetInfoManager and NetWare client support. I can't find it documented (except for one or two lines that say refer to the Novell manuals). Does this NetInfoManager provide full client support? Can I mount a volume from our Netware server on a NS 3.0 NeXT? This is the difficult part of building an SMTP <=> Novell gateway. For NFS support, Can I then NFS export this directory's parent directory, so I can get access to the NetWare volume from another UNIX machine (Sun, etc.) via the NeXT? -- Spike White Tybrin Corporation, Shalimar, FL | Moderation in all things -- spike.white@tybrin.com | and abstinence in none! Disclaimer: The guys down the hall disagree with everything I say! Guess who speaks for the company.

You want to fire up NetWareManager. Click the menu choice that says
"Turn on Novell Networking" and poof. All of your servers will appear
in /Net next time you reboot.

You can't do this, but you can get NFS for your NetWare servers and
mount them directly on your Suns.
Around here we've tried mounting our NetWare servers onto the NeXT via
IPX/SPX, NFS, and AppleTalk (heh) and they all work pretty well. I
think loading up the NFS module on the NetWare server and doing it
that way works the best (it's the fastest...), but it's been a while
since I did that.
