Having a NeXT printer that isn't being utilized that much, I decided that its 400 DPI would be very nice to use a network printer. So after tinkering with /etc/hosts.lpd on the NeXT and /etc/printcap on the other systems on the network, I can now use utilities like lpr to send files to be printed (in courier 10pt :-( ). But trying to get a program such as WordPerfect on the Suns to actually print has been something else. Each time I print a document on Sun, the NeXT printer gives me: vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv WARNING: Unable to convert document to Postscript Printer: Local_Printer User: root Host: sitzmark Filter: "pcsf" not available This filter needs to be installed and the appropriate shell scripts need to be edited. For the NeXT 400 dpi Laser Printer edit /usr/lib/NextPrinter/comm. For other Postscript printers edit /usr/lib/transcript/psint.sh. Contact your system administrator for assistance. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ When I did an ls -l of the /usr/lib/NextPrinter directory, pcsf is there but is linked to /usr/lib/NextPrinter/comm. So what do I need to do (besides sacrafice something to the Bit Bucket Gods) to get the NeXT to print "foreign" postscipt files? E-mail to twm3@world.std.com is fine. If there is sufficient interest, I shall post a summary in a few days. TIA, -Tom
