Hello NeXTers: I have a situation here that I am fairly certain must be solveable (I hope so:-)). We regularly need to telnet to a site that only comprehends seven bit communications. Since telnet is an 8 bit communication, the terminal only reports unintelligible rubbish when connecting to this site. What I need to do is either configure telnet or set up the terminal so that the high bit is stripped or the entire communications runs as 7-e communications. Can anyone provide an explanation as to how I can manage this? the application we need to telnet to successfully is one of crucial importance to our organization--thus, any help is really appreciated. BTW, I searched many manual entries, such as stty and telnet but could not find the exact element I needed. I also searched termcap with no luck either, so i have least tried and tired. thanks and regards- Joe -- ----- ----------- Joe Rosenfeld cowboy@trans.csuohio.edu Automation Librarian joer@inca.law.csuohio.edu

Well you would need to do an stty on the otherside to handle sending or receiving 7bits rather than 8bits. On some hosts the option for 7 bits is -pass8, with the pass8 being the option for 8 bits. Did you try the man entry for stty on the remote host or on the Next? jamie -- Jamie O'Keefe FTP Software, Inc. Technical Support Phone: 01-508-685-3600 Fax: 01-508-794-4484 Email: jamie@ftp.com
