Automatic power ON

Hello,

When the electricity goes off, the NeXT won't reboot, you have
to press the Power key. It is a bit annoying because we have a server
that is suppose to run all the time.
Is there a way to have the NeXT reboot when the electricity comes back?

I think it has to be by a physical mean (electronic or something).

Thanks,

If you absolutely have to have the server on all the time you should consider
an UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply).

NeXTStation Color machines have a different clock chip than the older
monochrome machines. There is a preferences pick that tells them how
long to wait to power up, after being shut down. I believe that you can
tell them to power up immediately.

Also, monochrome machines manufactured after approximately when
NeXTStation Color machines started to ship have this clock chip. As
far as I have seen, 040 upgrades to Cubes do NOT have this, but
cubes purchased with 040 boards in them originally might have them.
In any event, the way to get at the menu is to login as root on the
Console, then in Preferences choose the StartupDevice icon. There
will be a little pop-up menu in the upper right side of the box if
this option is available on your machine.

Login as root and open the preferences icon, find the power button, choose
power from the pop-up list and set the "Turn computer on:" to "after power
off/failure". Easy huh?
