I want to turn the AutoAnswer feature of my modem on and off at given times. I can do it using UUCP, except that I can't finish the UUCP connection cleanly; it just times out. I have the following in my crontab.local: 30 18 * * 1-5 uucp uupoll ModemOn and I have the following in my L.sys file: ModemOn Any DIR 2400 cua \ "" AT \ OK ATS0=2 \ OK ATS0? \ 002 "" I don't know how to end this file so uucico will shut down cleanly. Debugging shows that uucico is looking for input: root ModemOn (8/17-15:16-258) SUCCEEDED (call to ModemOn ) imsg looking for SYNC< OK root ModemOn (8/17-15:17-258) TIMEOUT (ModemOn) Any suggestions? +------------------------------------------------------+ Will Gilbert, Pure Math Dept, University of Waterloo wgilbert@fatou.UWaterloo.ca [NeXT mail welcome] wgilbert@math.UWaterloo.ca

I am by no means a UUCP expert, but I think that adding the ABORT line which I have inserted above might do the trick. You could also try " ABORT 002 \". You probably won't need the last line after you add the ABORT. I was hanging until timeout on all BUSY calls (they were admittedly rare) before I added ABORT BUSY as the first line of my chat script. Drawback: You will get a failure message in your LOGFILE and in the summary generated by uucp.day.sh -- Brian Willoughby Software Design Engineer, BSEE BrianW@SoundS.WA.com SoundSoftware NeXTmail welcome
