Help! Hard Drive in NeXT won't newfs!

Hello,

I have a NeXT '040 cube with a 200M drive in it. Up until yesterday, it
was working fine.

I have successfully net booted it off of a NeXTStation, but I can't get
it to newfs properly. When writing the super-block backups, it get a
write error at a random place on the disk, with the error:

16, ..., 45736,write error: 48416
wtfs: Error 0

I think I need a low level formatting utility that can mark bad blocks after
verifying the disk. Is there a built-in NeXT utility to do this? I looked
at sdform and disk, but neither seems to handle anything but pristine disks.

Is there a utility on the net to do this? A long time ago, I got a util
called reassignblock, and in the readme it mentions formatdisk, but I can't
find it with archie, or on a few common NeXT ftp sites.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Vaughan
