The following questions are the type of questions that are
hard to find in the Netware manuals and literature but, never-
theless, they are very important. If you have the answers to
these questions please email them to attila@io.org (and do
a follow-up post if you think it is helpful for others).

Questions

Backup in 3.1x

1. Where are trustee rights stored (in the bindery??)?
How are netware file attributes stored (in the fat??)?

2. When a partial restore is done will the trustee
of the particular file(s) be the person doing
    the restore?

3. When you do a partial restore (eg. 5 user files)
are the netware file attributes restored
    automatically?

4. Is the following procedure the correct method for
restoring a file server from a complete disk failure:

	i) Replace hard disk (ideally the same type and
	    size)

ii) Create and restore DOS partion. Try to
duplicate the partion sizes of the previous
            server.

iii) Re-install Netware and duplicate the number of
volumes and sizes of the previous file server.

iv) Restore the system and application files. If
the backup unit is on a workstation, load the
Lan driver and bind ipx so the workstation can
communicate with the file server. Use the
same internal network number and network address.

        v) Reboot the file server so the old Autoexec.ncf
            and bindery files take effect.

SCSI Questions

1. If you are not using a SCSI drive to boot from (eg. IDE
drive for the hard disk and SCSI Adapter for the CD-ROM
drive) can you load the SCSI adapter driver after
SERVER.EXE is loaded (eg. in Autoexec.ncf)?

2. Do you need to load the CD driver (eg. ASPICD.DSK) in
Startup.ncf or can it be loaded after SERVER.EXE is
    loaded (eg. in Autoexec.ncf)?

Other Questions

1. How is disk duplexing set up? Is special software
    required?

2. Is there an option to mirror to more than one drive
    during the install procedure?

3. Are DAT drivers loaded after SERVER.EXE(or in startup.ncf)?

Thank you in advance for your help.
