[ This might be of more general interest so I'm sending the answer to the pc532 list. ] Bdale Garbee writes: > > I'm working on a port for the net2 based server. I started on the bnr2 emulation friday evening, was able to run programs on it sunday, got signal delivery working monday, wrote new setjmp and some other user level stuff tuesday. Yesterday I tried to get job control and /etc/init working but didn't get very far. If I get things working it will not take long, otherwise it will. The problem is that I have a lot of other things that I should do so there may be some delay. I could make the diffs available so that someone brave enough could try playing around with it. I built a large part of the net2 tape for the pc532 cross compiling on a decstation. One problem is that I haven't been able to test if some new library routines I wrote work. This makes locating problems harder. The 4.3 emulation works better but the user level stuff hasn't been packaged in any way. Actually we just use a tar file of binaries we created a long time ago. I'm not very interested in going through the files anyways. It seems more worthwhile to work on the net2 and other free stuff. (If USL wins we lose). Anyways it will take some effort for you to get a build environment done. I'm planning to make a release of the kernel files RSN so you could then get started building that. > > If you still want the 4.3 ux server I would appreciate you > > agreeing with CMU on the distribution conditions and letting them > > check the licenses in any ways they want. If it's ok with a not so well working u*x emulation then I should be able to provide a free one soon. To make it stable and complete etc. will take a couple of months at least I'd think. It might be useful to build the bnr2 server for your 386 pc if you have one so it can be used for comparison. Johannes
