I have done this (cross compiling on a sparc, not porting bsd). I can
successfully cross compile mach on a Sparc II for the pc532. Gcc2 and
gas work without change (well, I know of one gas bug unrelated to
cross compiling but apart from that gas works).

The binutils (ld, ar, ranlib etc) are a bit more of a problem. I
believe the current binutils support cross compilation, but I don't
know if it supports the 532. There were significant changes required
to support the 32k series in earlier versions of binutils. I sent in
the changes, but never checked to see if they made it. I am using an
old version of binutils with added support for endian independence and
32k support.

I don't know about the rest of the gang, but I'm still working on it.
There is a mailing list, send mail to sopwith!532bsd-request to join.

Between the net-2 tape, 386bsd, and the freely distributable pieces
from the pc-532 Minix port, it should be possible to glue pieces together
and build a 532bsd kernel without writing tooooo much from scratch.

My current project is teaching the PROM code about UTek style disk
labels so that I can move disks between systems without pain. I'm
also building a boot block to find /vmunix on a BSD Fast Filesystem.

Once that is working, the big decision will be choosing between
native BSD and Mach with a BSD server. (input welcome!)
What parts of the Mach port to the pc-532 are available and where
can we get them?
