I definately want an ET532 card. Just let me know what I need to do ... Bryan Davis

I'm thinking about building one as well. I would want to build
the semi-cost-reduced model. Probably wouldn't put all the
serial ports on it, for example. Do we have any notion of
cost yet?
BTW, what follows is what informatio I collected last May
regarding the ET532 card. Note that this is NOT current
information. It should be considered OLD and OUT OF DATE.
Nevertheless, it may give an indication of some of the
previous thoughts and some of it may still be valid.
Enjoy,
jdl

Well, you can count me in. My rating is the following: It has to be less than
another PC532 (and not by a few cents). Half the cost would be wonderful. I
really don't need ethernet so much (all I'd use it for is to hook up an X-term
and I wonder when I'd get the time to write a driver for it). I just want
parallel processing capabilities. This seems like a cheaper way to get it
over buying more PC532 boards (I already have two).
Let's see, $200 for a board, $250 for a CPU, $200 for RAM, $200 for other chips
,
Maybe a $1,000? Gee, that sounds kinda' high. My PC532 was $200 + 550 + 200 +
360 or a little over $1,
$1,300. I'd be willing to buy one for less than $800. Two if they ran less t
than $600 (maybe if we got samples of the CPU, eh?).

count me in.
i think antsu@sandra.pp.fi also wants a board (i am 99% sure of that)

There are 3 "definates" here for the ETH532. I'd pay $300. Maybe even $350.

Count me in -- at least for a board and probably a parts kit.

I'll definatly take one at $200. $300 is a bit more difficult, and
I'd have a real hard time with $350.
I presume you are talking board and kit. If just board ( no parts )
I would probably go up to $200 or so, figuring I can get the
kit later.

I expressed interest in the et532 back when George first asked.
Since then I also told George that I could not afford it.
Currently I'm still in that position. But maybe by the time there
is enough interest I might be in a position to get one.
My interest in the board is as an extra CPU, with maybe a few serial
ports. The ethernet is not a major concern (at least not yet).

If the ET532 gets cheap enough I'll be willing to buy one. There are
at least a couple of other interested people here at HUT. Another
possibility is an ether board designed by Jukka Virtanen <jtv@hut.fi>
that is connected to the pc532 through the ROM socket and one PAL
socket. We can't afford to have a test board made though. It is a four
layer board.
Yes. Ether is a necessity. If the pc532 is ever changed some way, the
first thing would be to put an ether chip on the board.

Anyway, count me in for a board. I'm not sure I'll have the money for a month
or two, but I should be able to come up with two or three hundred bucks for one

I would like an ET532 if we're going to build them,
although I would prefer a simpler design.
The $550 SCSI/Ethernet adapters sound very expensive for
what little hardware.

I am interested in the et532 board, even if my pc532 is not yet finished
(memory still not found and one crunched terminator resistor keeping me back,
plus a shortage of time). $200 is a good price for the beast, and $300 is
do-able with kits but would be kind of a stretch.

Please add my name to the list of those who are interested in a pcb
run for the eth532.
cutoffs:
~ $200 1, perhaps 2 boards: ~$250 is the maximum for 2 boards
~ $300 1 board but pushing the limit of price/board

I previously sent you a message indicating I was interested in a board
run of the eth 532. That has changed -- I'm no longer interested,
at least for a several months.

Yet another name for the interest list. However, I would really be more
interested in a simpler ETHERNET interface, which is the part that really
grabs me. The machine doesn't really need another "brain", and judging by
most workstations, they dont usually put on extra grunt to serve the e'net.
