J-OS or CJKOS or what for Japanese/English Palm IIIx use (key: Palm Pilot -- should've remained so named)

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to add Japanese language capability to my
Palm IIIx, and it's difficult for me to completely understand my
options. Please help if you can. I'll post solutions and issues on my
web page if I can get a good model going. www.efn.org/~conquest

J-OS is what most people have referred me to.
http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=89504919990816022405&prodID=607
or search for J-OS at http://www.palmgear.com if the link above
doesn't work.

J-OS 1.9 was completed on Oct-28-1997. I can't tell how much RAM it
will occupy on a Palm, but the author does say that several other
companion apps are needed including Elisa font (available on PalmGear)
and several dictionary files (which I can't find on PalmGear and I
know there are several more versions of available anyway.)

It looks like J-OS *was* the way to go, but links/supporting files are
hard to find, various improved versions of supporting files are
available, and the English in the setup files is quite confusing.

Then there's CJKOS.
http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=89504919990816022405&prodID=3402
or again search for CJKOS on palmgear's site.

This application allows Chinese, Korean, or Japanese of differing
encodings to be used, uses 160 K of RAM (according to PalmGear), and
version 1.32 was updated Aug-20-99.

To me, CJKOS looks better, but I'm not at all sure, and I do have two
concerns:
1) The E-dict series of dictionaries (no reference) state that J-OS is
required (no mention of CJKOS is made)
2) I don't need Chinese and Korean capability for my Palm, so I am
concerned that the code will be consequently "feature-bloated."

I'm using win98 if that is an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Greg
