Better still, if you want a Mac, find someone with university
connections or take some course at a junior college. (even if you have
a PhD--you may have to use a little social engineering to become
qualified for educational prices) or see if you can get the last model
refurbished cheap through a computer club. (especially the Boston
Computer Society in Waltham, MA) Apple rips most people off (though
they can't get away with it as much any more) and then heavily
subsidizes others.
